  • Mental Health Week

    At Brookside primary, during mental health week 6th10th March, the children enjoyed a series of activities which included: 20-minute extra play, various arts and crafts activities, physical activities which all allow them to connect with each other. To culminate the week’s events, the children wore a scarf to school in Recognition of children’s mental health. Additionally, they were entertained by a mini concert where the teachers performed for them. The children enjoyed the week and went for their half term break in good spirit.

  • 2023 The Year for a Healthy Fit Lifestyle

    Class Madrid acted out the story ‘Handa’s Surprise’ in their assembly. The children learnt about fruits of the world which related to their current topic ‘Let’s keep fit and healthy’. The children also sang the fruits and vegetables song, ‘Cauliflowers fluffy’ and presented a slide-show to their parents of what they have learnt this academic year.

  • Stay and Read Parent Workshop

    We were very impressed by the second staging of our ‘Stay and Read’ workshop. Parents, guardians and
    carers read with their child and were given tips on how to encourage reading at home. Parents were also given information on how to help their child improve on their reading comprehension. We look forward to more collaboration.

  • Young Voices Choir at the O2 Arena

    What a spectacular performance of song and dance from the primary school choirs at the O2 Arena on Tuesday 17th January. The children were among over 6,000 pupils from the other school across the United Kingdom, taking part in the world’s largest school choir concert as they celebrated 26 years of singing together. The groundwork begun in the Autumn Term leading up to January where they specially selected songs provided a full and varied introduction to all kinds of music for the children. This fantastic evening, which showcased the beautiful harmonious voices of our very talented children, provided to be a truly memorable experience for them. Brilliant work to all who took part!

  • World Religion Day

    Last Friday, 13thJanuary, Brookside Primary observed World Religion Day. The children had the opportunity to wear their religious or cultural clothing. We celebrated the diverse community in our school, where both children and staff came together to explore the different faiths. Our amazing representatives of each faith collaborated to present their religious beliefs to the rest of the school. The pupils learnt that although all religions may be different (and some may not have any), we are all equally respected.

  • Chefs in English

    Last term, the Year 3 pupils explored writing to inform in English. This unit of work required of them to write recounts, information texts and instructions. To culminate their learning, the writers transformed into little chefs when they got the opportunity to follow written instructions to bake their own delicious Christmas cookies. It was amazing to see how fun and engaging it was for them to link their learning across the curriculum, which included Mathematics, PSHE, Design and Technology and Science. It was a blast!

  • Church Trip Year 1

    On Thursday 15th December 2022, Year 1 went to St Joseph the Worker Church in Northolt. Pupils have been learning about Christianity and how Christians celebrate Christmas. The children were greeted by the sound of the bell ringing as we approached the church. The Vicar welcomed us into the church and we were told about the Christmas story and how Christians celebrate their beliefs by one of the parishioners. The children then had a variety of art and craft activities to complete and went on a short tour of the church to learn about how Christians worship. The children had a very enjoyable afternoon and learned about some Christian traditions and how to respect each other’s religious beliefs.

  • FREE Asthma Workshops

    MyHealth are running FREE Asthma workshops for parents who have children with Asthma. These sessions are run by the Hillingdon Hospital asthma nurses giving you the chance to learn from health professionals and to ask them questions directly.  Some of the content included in these sessions is asthma attacks, asthma triggers, in techniques and asthma action plans.

  • Hampton Court Palace Year 5 Trip

    The Year 5 pupils were in awe as they travelled back to 16th Century England, in their visit to Hampton Court Palace. The visit provided great enrichment, as well as the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the monarchs of the time. The pupils saw various fascinating paintings and were able to compare their own skills of drawing portraits of King Henry V111 from their own Art lessons. To give a better understanding of how vast the Palace is, the children explored different chambers, and saw King Henry’s actual kitchen. They were able to make comparisons on how people lived during that period to present day. Overall, the trip was a huge success as they reinforced their learning of The Tudors whilst having a blast!

  • Children’s Nativity

    Our Nursery to Year 6 children wowed us with their amazing production of the birth of Jesus Christ.
    The children displayed their talents through singing, dancing and speech. It was a spectacular event that brought the Christmas spirit and warmed our hearts. Children performed for their parents, guardians and carers, and the school body. We thank all the parents who supported and we look forward to you having a Happy Holiday, and happy New Year when it comes!

  • Sea Life Trip

    Year 4 had the opportunity to go on a great adventure under the sea! They had the experience of travelling on the tube to Central London. The children visited the Sea Life Centre and saw various different sea life and plants that are found in the ocean habitat. Furthermore, they also experienced seeing Big Ben and the River Thames from up close. This trip en- riched them in their knowledge of living things and their habitats as well as travelling on public transport.
