
Summer School Extravaganza
During the week commencing Monday 26th July, Brookside Primary School held a week-long summer school, ranging from various sporting activities, music and movement, yoga meditation and pizza-making fun.

After a very eventful year of being in lockdown and learning online when necessary, the Year 6s have demonstrated their resilience in being responsible learners.
On Thursday 8th and Friday 9th July, Brookside Primary took to the track and field to compete in the eagerly awaited Brookside Primary annual Sports Day.
On Friday 2nd July, Year 5 Dakar class transformed the playground into a ‘United Nations debate chamber’, where they embraced their philosophical reasoning skills in a round of debates, while still remembering to be reflective and respectful.
After a week of marked leadership, teamwork and agility through intense training sessions, the children progressed with enhanced skills in three sports: football, rounders and netball.
Last term, children in Nursery explored the topic ‘Minibeasts’. As part of the children’s learning, they explored the gardens outside to collect sticks, twigs, leaves and mud to ensure a suitable habitat for their ‘bug hotel’.
Children in Year 1 explored the history of pirates and learnt about famous pirates such as Edward Teach also known as Blackbeard, and Anne Bonne.
In Religious Education (RE), children in Year 4 have been learning about Hinduism. As part of their learning, the children explored and discussed the Hindu practice Puja - how Hindus pray at home.
Last week was a fantastic week celebrating Mathematics in our school.
